COMMUNITY!
Got Something to Say? Got Something You Want to Change?
Say it through
Participants are supported in the workshop's experiential activities, evidence-based methods, and to perform the change they wish to be and see in the world.
In addition to discussion & listening, the use of drama techniques like storytelling, role-playing, and improvisation, puppets, poetry, dance, music, and visual art allows participants to express themselves authentically, find & strengthen their voice, and explore their inner worlds creatively, leading to increased self-awareness, self-confidence, and more.
Participants authentically share their lived experiences with an audience. The power of voice and speech moves humanity forward. The power of theatre and other expressive arts delivers a multisensory experience that touches the listener deeply. Voices are powerfully heard.
After each performance, facilitated discussions are held with both the audience and participants to process the experience, identify problems, and brainstorm solutions related to the issues highlighted in the ethnodrama. This process is crucial for empowering community members, social cohesion, and advocating for positive change.
Therapeutic Theatre for Healing and Social Change is a program (30 or 60 hours) designed for our community to take a serious and heartfelt look at the oppression and challenges that affect our lives daily, understand our roles in it, individually and collectively heal, and work together for social change.
Drama therapy, expressive arts, evidence-based techniques and methods, and trauma-informed practices are some of the approaches used to achieve optimal outcomes. Learn More
